Anglo-Saxon Elmsett-type brooch. Circa 9th century CE. Silver, 8.4g. 55mm. Weetch's type 16. Cut or broken in to four pieces before being lost, maybe for use in trade?. Three of the pieces survive which would have formed an open-work cross, each arm detailed with Trewhiddle-style decoration, two of the arms have a similar interlace design with the other displaying two opposing beasts. Similar to an example found at Elmsett in Suffolk (West 1998, 25, fig. 24.6). Found near Cambridge 1980's, recorded on the PAS database as: ESS-82869F. Treasure case: 2024T971.
